  • I love enjoying a good book in my own backyard overlooking the Niagara River and Canada. The sunsets on the river are amazing all year round, but they are especially delightful in the summertime when you are outdoors relaxing and taking in the view.

  • Goat Island. The sound of the rapids is peaceful and relaxing. You feel a real connection with nature and its power there.

  • My back porch. It is peaceful and allows you to be outdoors near the garden. There’s always a light breeze. It is a great spot to read a book at night, or the newspaper on a weekend morning with a big cup of coffee. It’s even fun to sit outside under the awing during a rainstorm!

Tom Putnam says:

Right now I'm in Berlin during World War I, and before that, Walden Pond in the early nineteenth century. Not so long ago I spent a few weeks in Petersburg in the Russia of the Dostoevsky. New York City in the 1940s may be next. You see, my reading takes me away; when I am at a pond I look at the water, watch and listen to birds, dragonflies, lying in a hammock.

It is great at the river walk on the Niagara River (Niawanda/Isleview) about 6 - 6:30 am. Very peaceful at that time.
