Frederick E. Munschauer III, the Irvin and Rosemary Smith Professor and chair of the Department of Neurology, and chief of the Jacobs Neurological Institute, received the 2008 Stephen H. Kelly Award from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at their annual dinner held last week. The award is given each year to an individual who has dedicated his or her time and effort to improving the lives of people with MS.

Kelli Bullard Dunn, associate professor of surgery in the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and a faculty member of the Gastrointestinal Service in the Department of Surgical Oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, has received the Victor W. Fazio, M.D., M.S., Award for Editorial Excellence by editors of Diseases of the Colon and Rectum, the journal of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. The award is given to the reviewer who has done the finest editorial work over the past year.

Thomas B. Burrows, executive director of the Center for the Arts, recently gave a presentation at Arts Summit 2008, the annual meeting of the Alliance of New York State Arts Organizations, the state’s primary service and advocacy organization for the arts. During a session entitled "Healthcare: Opportunities for the Arts," Burrows spoke about the Arts in Healthcare initiative the CFA is leading in collaboration with Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo and Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
