A UB computer scientist who is one of the world’s leading experts on deepfakes will present a free demonstration on how to detect fraudulent videos at noon on Nov. 19 in the auditorium of the Buffalo Museum of Science, 1020 Humboldt Parkway, Buffalo.

The UB Women’s Club will hold its annual holiday luncheon to raise money for student scholarships on Dec. 3 at Sean Patrick's Restaurant, 3480 Millersport Highway, Getzville.

Members of the UB community can learn about the progress being made to advance diversity, equity, inclusion and justice at the university at a virtual town hall on Nov. 15.

The UB community can help ensure that UB students celebrate a “holiday without hunger” by contributing to the annual food drive conducted by Blue Table, the university’s virtual food pantry.

Former Ukrainian ambassador Marie Yovanovitch will share her insights on the current crisis in Ukraine, as well as experiences from her 33-year career in the U.S. foreign service, during an appearance on Nov. 15 as part of UB’s Distinguished Speakers Series.

UB alumna Jennifer Webster-Cyriaque, deputy director of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), was elected to the National Academy of Medicine.

The School of Dental Medicine will host Dentistry Smiles on Veterans, an annual program that welcomes local veterans to receive a day of free dental screenings, cleanings, extractions, restorations and denture repairs.

While it may seem early — it’s barely November — it’s time to start planning for the holiday season. UB departments that want to help local families in need celebrate the season can take part in the university’s annual Adopt a Family initiative.

Gretchen Goldman, assistant director for Environmental Science, Engineering, Policy and Justice at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, will headline “Open for Climate Justice,” a remote panel discussion hosted by the UB Libraries on Oct. 27.
