The May 21 issue of the Reporter-both print and electronic-will be the last for the Spring semester. There will be two issues during the summer on June 18 and July 23. The Reporter will resume weekly publication on Aug. 27.

Perry, Levy receive honorary doctorates
Gerhard Levy, SUNY Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the Department of Pharmaceutics, received an honorary doctor of science degree March 20 from The Ohio State University, and J. Warren Perry, professor emeritus of health behavioral sciences, will be presented with an honorary doctor of science degree from DePauw University on May 23. Perry is a graduate of DePauw.

Levy Levy, who joined UB in 1958, was cited as a pioneering researcher and renowned scholar who "has illuminated the mysteries of how therapeutic drugs act in the presence of disease. His leadership in the field of biopharmaceutics has led to important discoveries in the management of drug therapy."

Levy, author of more than 550 scientific publications in the fields of pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and biophar-maceutics, is an elected member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences.

The founding dean of the UB School of Health Related Professions, Perry is a pioneer in the field of allied health education, nationally recognized as an innovative administrator, author and leader in the development of health-care education. An annual lecture series is presented by the School of Health Related Professions in his honor.

Perry Perry helped establish the Association of Schools of Allied Health Care Professions, serving as its second national president and as founding editor of the Journal of Allied Health. He was the first allied health-care professional ever elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences.

PSS to present change/creativity conference on May 29
The Professional Staff Senate will present an all-day conference, "Playing Well with Others: Being Productive in a University Environment," on May 29 in the Sheraton Inn Airport, 2040 Walden Ave. Keynote speaker Gerald J. Puccio of the Center for Studies and Creativity, Buffalo State College, will discuss the nature of change through the engagement of creative thinking and how it relates to the university environment. Co-sponsors are TIAA-CREF and UUP, Buffalo Center chapter.

Workshops will be offered on creative problem-solving, gender communication, servicing internal and external customers, team building and personal motivation.

Registration fees are $20 before May 15 and $25 after for those affiliated with UB, and will include continental breakfast and afternoon refreshments. Lunch will be an Italian buffet.

Reception May 12 honors 87 UB faculty, staff members with 30, 40 years of service
President and Mrs. William Greiner hosted a reception on May 12 in the President's Residence honoring 87 members of the UB faculty and staff who have completed 30 and 40 years of service to the university.

Lectures, exhibits planned for Science Exploration Day
Lively demonstrations, lectures and exhibits ranging from a visit to a turn-of-the-century apothecary/pharmacy to improved techniques for forecasting the weather will be among the more than 30 workshops and mini-lectures to be presented as part of the 15th annual Science Exploration Day, to be held Tuesday at UB.

An estimated 1,100 high-school students from Erie and Niagara counties are expected to "turn on to science" at Science Exploration Day, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the North Campus.

A highlight will be a program presented by L. Dennis Christopher, NASA aerospace education specialist at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. A consultant to the Public Broadcasting System program "NOVA," Christopher will lecture at 9:15 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. in 112 Norton Hall (Woldman Theatre).

Science Exploration Day is sponsored by the Niagara Frontier Science Supervisors Association and the western section of the Science Teachers Association of New York State. Additional sponsors are the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the Office of Admissions, the Graduate School of Education, Educational Technology Services and the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, all at UB; the New York Sea Grant/Great Lakes Program; Wilson Greatbatch Ltd., and West Valley Nuclear Services Co./Westinghouse.
