Websites

The comprehensive Undergraduate Academic Advisement website is the place to begin your search for any information you are seeking in regards to advising (where to go), academic planning and scheduling, tutoring, choosing or changing your major, and more.

The Undergraduate Catalog should be your primary source of information on university policies, UB Curriculum and degree requirements for majors, minors and all academic programs.

Individual academic departments also have websites that provide additional details about the program, faculty, alumni, courses, etc., that are not available in the catalog. For most programs, the academic program page in the catalog will provide a link to the departmental website as well as contact information.

Planning Tools

Curricular Plans

“Finish in 4 Curricular Plan” is the term for the documents that outline, in a semester-by-semester format, how to complete all major and UB Curriculum requirements in four years.

These are found in the Undergraduate Degree & Course Catalog, where degree information is given for each major/academic program. (Some majors/academic programs may also have curricular plan information on their departmental website.)

Academic Planning Assistance

Strategies, tips and tools are critical to developing the best long-term academic plan and semester course schedules. Additional resources for daily, semesterly and four-year planning and academic success skills are available on the Tools & Tutorials page on the Undergraduate Academic Advisement website.

Technology Tools: My Planner and AAR

Computer-based tools that incorporate your personal academic records and which are used for official degree auditing are available in your HUB Student Center. The Academic Advisement Report (AAR) should be referred to regularly for assistance with planning course registration and monitoring progress to degree. The AAR is very dynamic when used in conjunction with the My Planner tool because you are able to see if your course plans for one or more future semesters will accurately fulfill degree requirements.

Step-by-step instructions and tutorials on how to use these HUB tools can be found on the registrar website.

Tips & Reminders

  • Don’t forget to refer back to the requirements and guidelines of the pledge, for an overview of all the actions and behaviors that are critical to achieving academic success in a timely manner.
  • Academic planning should always be done in consultation with an academic advisor and with the support of all the advising resources offered to students.
