How to Apply

Students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States or its possessions and be enrolled as undergraduate students in a college program through the Fall semester. Students from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in STEM fields and non-research-focused institutions are strongly encouraged to apply. No prior research experience is required.
  1. Complete the online application form for your program of interest:
  2. Submit copies of transcripts. A copy of your transcript (unofficial is fine) must be uploaded to the online application.
  3. Provide 1 letter of recommendation. Applicants must provide 1 letter of recommendation from college/university faculty. You will list your reference writer in the application and they will be sent instructions on how to provide their letter once you submit your online application.
  4. Upload your resume. Resumes are uploaded into the online application and should include (1) all post-secondary educational institutions attended with dates, (2) research and teaching experience or other university or science activities (prior research experience is not a requirement), and (3) any other information thought to be relevant to the application.
  5. Write a brief personal statement. Submitted via the online application, personal statements should describe academic and research goals and long-term career objectives. Applicants should clearly articulate what they hope to get out of the program and how they believe the program will help them reach their short- and long-term goals.
