UB To Hold Undergraduate Open House On Oct. 23

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University at Buffalo will hold "Discover UB," an open house for prospective undergraduate students, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 23 on the UB North (Amherst) Campus.

The event will include a wide-range of presentations, tours and special events in which participants plan their day by choosing specific events they would like to attend based on their individual interests.

Registration will be held from 8-10 a.m. in the Alumni Arena lobby.

Those arriving early will be able to take part in early-bird guided walking tours of the North Campus. The North Campus guided walking tours will continue throughout the day. There also will be bus tours of the South (Main Street) Campus and tours of the Ellicott Complex to allow visitors to see residence-hall rooms and facilities.

A welcome address by UB President William R. Greiner from 9-9:40 a.m. in front of Alumni Arena will open the event. It will be followed by presentations in various areas of interest, including the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Architecture and Planning, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, School of Health Related Professions, School of Management, School of Pharmacy and School of Nursing.

There also will be sessions on "Frequently Asked Question about Student Life," "Campus Computing and Technology," "Academic Advisement," "A Brief Overview of Admissions," "Tips for Financing your Education" and special sessions on prelaw and preprofessional health advising.

A presentation entitled "Especially for Transfer Students" also will be offered.

Participants can attend a UB "Mini-Gala" that will include 20-minute presentations by three of UB's celebrated performing companies: Zodiaque Dance Company,

Buffalo Chips men's a cappella ensemble and The Royal Pitches women's a cappella group.

Participants also will be eligible for complimentary football tickets to attend the UB Bulls football game against Marshall University at noon in UB Stadium.
