What mentoring means to me:

Mentorship is a mutually beneficial relationship. I can share my lived experiences including my decision making process regarding career and personal choices. Furthermore, I am also excited to learn from my mentee about the unique obstacles and challenges that they may be facing. Together, we can celebrate each step along the way towards completing the degree while also recognize personal achievements.

Topics I am willing to discuss with students:

Academic Culture

  • Decoding and demystifying academic culture and norms.

Other Topics

  • Being a first-generation doctoral student and the challenges that come from that lived experience.

Personal Experiences

  • Experiences related to class and/or socioeconomic status.
  • Experiences related to racial, ethnic, cultural and/or religious minority status.
  • Non-U.S. citizen or immigrant experiences.
