Shaping the Future of Medicine
The UB Medicine Partners in Discovery Fund allows donors to support the early development of cutting-edge biomedical innovations.
Gifts to the fund are vital because they provide support for pilot studies that test and gather preliminary data necessary to leverage large-scale federal funding.
Historically, government funding, coupled with private philanthropy, has supported biomedical research. As federal support becomes ever more competitive, private donations play a vital role in promoting tomorrow’s life-altering medical advances.
Led by Timothy Murphy, MD, director of UB’s Clinical and Translational Research Center, the Partners in Discovery Fund encourages both young investigators and established senior scientists to submit novel clinical and translational research proposals for pilot funding.
A one-year pilot study costs between $35,000 and $50,000. The goal of this fund is to strengthen the clinical research pipeline by more rapidly translating laboratory findings into improved treatments for some of society’s most intractable diseases such as Alzheimer’s, diabetes, heart disease, stroke and multiple sclerosis.
Investing in the Partners in Discovery Fund today will support research studies that will make a difference in lives tomorrow.
