Here is how our winners are making headlines at UB.

  • HSF Scholar Program

    HSF Scholars have access to a full range of invaluable Scholar Support Services, including career services, mentorship, leadership development, knowledge building, and wellness training. HSF Scholars are eligible to apply for all Scholar Conferences including, the STEM Summit, Finance Conference, Media & Entertainment Summit, Entrepreneurship Summit, and Healthcare Summit. Finally, and importantly, HSF awards more than $30 million in Scholarships annually and, depending upon available funds, HSF Scholars may also be eligible to receive a scholarship, which range from $500-$5,000 and are awarded directly to students.
  • NOAA Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship

    The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship Program provides successful undergraduate applicants with awards that include academic assistance (up to $9,500 per year) for two years of full-time study and a 10-week, full-time paid ($700/week) internship at a NOAA facility during the summer. 
  • PPIA Junior Summer Institute (JSI) Fellowship Program

    The Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Fellowship prepares undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds for graduate studies and careers in public policy and international affairs. 

    Through the PPIA Junior Summer Institute (JSI), a rigorous seven-week program held before their senior year, students gain a deeper understanding of current issues and trends, explore career opportunities in public service and global leadership, and acquire the academic skills necessary to excel in graduate education. 

    The PPIA Fellowship aims to strengthen the leadership capacity of government and nonprofit organizations worldwide by encouraging a diverse cadre of leaders to pursue careers in public service. The fellowship is rooted in the belief that representation is essential to advancing a more just and equitable society. After completing the Junior Summer Institute, fellows join PPIA's robust Alumni Network– a community of over 5,000 accomplished professionals dedicated to public service. Fellows are also invited to participate in the annual Public Service Expo, providing further opportunities for professional growth and networking.
  • WNY Prosperity Fellowship Program

    The Western New York (WNY) Prosperity Fellowship Program assists undergraduate and graduate students at UB and Canisius College with an entrepreneurial drive who are actively preparing for careers that further economic development and growth in the Western New York area. The fellowship program combines financial assistance, in the form of scholarships, with paid, credit-bearing internships to assist fellows in acquiring both academic and practical experiences in their intended professions. Fellows are given the opportunity to intern in their chosen fields of interest, where they work alongside and are mentored by leaders in upper-level management. Seeking entrepreneurs, leaders and innovators.
  • Institute for Citizens and Scholars Teaching Fellowship

    The Institute for Citizens and Scholars Teaching Fellowship seeks to attract talented, committed individuals with backgrounds in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields into teaching in high-need secondary schools in Pennsylvania.
  • Institute for Citizens and Scholars Dissertation Fellowship in Women’s Studies

    The Institute for Citizens and Scholars Dissertation Fellowships in Women’s Studies support the final year of dissertation writing for PhD. Candidates in the humanities and social sciences whose work addresses topics of women and gender in interdisciplinary and original ways. In each round, 10 fellows will receive $5,000 to be used for expenses connected with completing their dissertations, such as research-related travel, data work/collection and supplies.
  • Hertog Foundation Political Studies Fellowship

    Each year, the Hertog Foundation brings together top college students to the nation’s capital to explore the theory and practice of politics in an intensive seminar setting with outstanding faculty. Political Studies Fellows take courses in a wide variety of subjects, from political philosophy to contemporary public affairs, from economics to foreign policy. In the afternoons and evenings, they have the opportunity to hear from leaders in American government and politics.
  • NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU)

    The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). REU projects involve students in meaningful ways in ongoing research programs or in research projects specifically designed for the REU program. 
  • Luce Scholars Program

    The Luce Scholars Program is a nationally competitive fellowship that offers early-career leaders immersive, professional experiences in Asia. The program aims to forge stronger relationships across geographic borders by creating opportunities for young Americans to deepen their ties and understanding of the countries, cultures, and people of Asia. The program provides stipends, language training, and individualized professional placement in Asia for Luce Scholars each year. 
  • Hertog Foundation War Studies Fellowship

    The Hertog War Studies Program is an intensive two-week program run by the Institute for the Study of War in Washington DC. The program aims to educate advanced undergraduate students about the theory, practice, organization, and control of war and military forces. Students will learn from and interact with distinguished senior leaders in the national security and military communities.
