American Heart Association (AHA) Predoctoral Fellowship

Overview

The AHA Predoctoral Fellowship aims to enhance the integrated research and clinical training of promising students who are matriculated in pre-doctoral or clinical health professional degree training programs and who intend careers as scientists, physician-scientists or other clinician-scientists, or related careers aimed at improving global cardiovascular, cerebrovascular and brain health.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be an AHA Professional Member.
  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, individual with pending permanent resident status, individual with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status, or international student (see the AHA website for visa requirements).
  • Be enrolled in a post-baccalaureate PhD, MD, DO, DVM, PharmD, DDS, DrPH, or PhD in nursing or equivalent clinical health science doctoral degree program, and seeking research training with a sponsor prior to embarking upon a research career.
  • Be a full-time student working towards their degree.
  • Have a mentor/sponsor for collaboration and research funding.
