UB Exceptional Scholar Award FAQs

Awards

  • Sustained Achievement Award = SA
  • Young Investigator Award = YI

SA Eligibility

  • Nominee must be a tenured senior faculty.

SA Criteria

  • Work must have garnered above the norm accolades.
  • Award is for a body of work completed over a number of years, however, not a lifetime achievement award (see ESA guidelines for details).

YI Eligibility

  • Nominee must be an untenured or tenure-track faculty.
  • Nominee must have received terminal degree within the past eight years.

YI Criteria

  • Work must have garnered above the norm accolades.
  • Award is could be for a single scholarship piece or sustained scholarship over a two to three year period (see ESA guidelines for details).

Restrictions

  • Faculty may only receive one YI award.
  • If faculty holds Distinguished rank, ineligible for SA award.
  • Nomination process is confidential.

Submission Requirements

Dossiers must include all items in the following order:

  • Detailed Dean's Letter of Recommendation.
  • Candidate's current CV.
  • External letters optional, but strongly encouraged.

PDF nomination submitted via UBbox with email notification to facultyaffairs@buffalo.edu and one hard copy mailed/delivered to the Office of Faculty Affairs.
