EOP Tutor Application

The EOP department is hiring Academic Tutor's for the upcoming Summer, Fall and Spring semesters. Summer tutors will participate as a part of the EOP Summer Bridge Program.

The Summer Tutor position is responsible for providing tutoring support in the areas of Math or Sociology. EOP Summer Bridge Tutors provide academic support and create an open atmosphere of learning for all EOP students. Tutors will serve as a resource and role model to EOP students while providing academic assistance over the course of 5 weeks. All 5 weeks will be in-person, and tutors must be available for the entire duration of the program. 

Note: Housing and/or meal stipends are not provided or guaranteed for tutors; however, if housing and/or meals are a significant factor in the applicant’s decision to apply, it must be indicated at the time of application submission.

The summer program will take place July 5 - August 7th, 2026.

Summer applications are accepted until all positions are filled.

Job Responsibilities

·      Serve as In-class Teaching Assistant

·      Facilitate group tutoring sessions and individual tutoring as needed.

·      Assist with assessing the academic needs of students and develop educational plans for improvement

·      Maintain daily and weekly documentation on student progress and success

·      Communicate student progress to EOP counselors and staff in a timely manner.

Minimum Requirements

·      Sufficient knowledge and background in Sociology or Calculus, Intermediate Algebra, and Trigonometry

·      Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

·      Effective time management and organizational skills

·      Ability to cooperate with students, colleagues, and staff

·      Able to work in-person on campus during the program duration

Qualifications

·      Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

·      At least sophomore standing or higher

·      Have earned an A- or better in at least one of the following courses: MTH 112, MTH 113, MTH 114, MTH 121, MTH 141 or higher level mathematics course; SOC 101, SOC 211.
