Greetings from the Chair

Greetings! On behalf of the organizing and international-advisory committees, I would like to take this opportunity to express our excitement at hosting EDISON 20 in Buffalo, NY in July 2017.

Jonathan Bird.

With nearly 50 years of history (in its prior incarnations), the EDISON conference has long served as the premier international forum for the discussion of nonequilibrium phenomena in semiconductors. We are keen to maintain this tradition in 2017 and will have an exciting program that not only bring up-to-the-minute updates on EDISON’s traditional focus areas, but which also expands on these through the addition of a number of exciting, emergent, fields. Plenary and invited talks from some of the key leaders in the area are planned and I urge you to check the website for regular updates.

As a proud resident of the City of Buffalo, I am also extremely excited at the prospect of welcoming you all to our vibrant and diverse city. Located at the northernmost edge of Lake Erie, Buffalo is a major destination with a population of more than 200,000, a rich cultural and architectural heritage, and a thriving entertainment and social scene. The downtown location of the conference cite places it at the center of these many attractions, with restaurants, bars, theaters and clubs all within walking distance. Added to this will be Buffalo’s glorious summer weather, making for the perfect location for a successful workshop.

We look forward to seeing you in Buffalo in 2017!
