Working With the Institute

The Community Health Equity Research’s Mission is to perform research to advance understanding of the root causes of health inequities and develop and test innovative solutions to eliminate health inequities in the region, with a focus on inequities experienced by African Americans.

To facilitate achievement of this mission, the Institute invites University and community researchers to utilize the resources to develop comprehensive and mission-oriented research/grant proposals through the Institute.

Using the form below to select the resources from the Community Health Equity Research Institute that you will use to strengthen your research proposal:

Exploration and Planning

Assistance in developing project idea, aims, and methodology

Assistance in putting together research teams and collaborators to develop your project

Assistance in finding the appropriate sponsor or grant to fund the project

Assistance in engaging community partners and/or facilitate focus groups

Connection to Buffalo Center for Health Equity

Assistance in identifying specific population groups

Development

Financial or administrative support

Ongoing review and sounding board

Review

Review of the proposal prior to submission (30 days prior to submission)

Prior to Submission: The lead investigator should submit the following to the Steering Committee for final review.

a.    Design and methods
b.    Population of interest and why
c.     Outline process of engaging community in developing/implementing the project
d.    How will this project contribute the improvement of health outcomes, health equity, social justice, and/or the built environment in the regional community
e.    Describe how this project builds on your current research trajectory
