Media Advisory: TV host and conservationist Jeff Corwin to speak at UB

BUFFALO, N.Y. – For nearly three decades, Jeff Corwin has been telling stories of wildlife and nature to a global audience through his many celebrated television series on ABC, NBC, Travel Channel, Food Network, Disney Channel and Discovery Networks.

Now, Corwin will speak at the University at Buffalo on Tuesday, April 5 at 7 p.m. in the Center for the Arts, North Campus, as the final speaker for the 2021-22 UB Distinguished Speakers Series.

Corwin is the creator, executive producer and presenter of the groundbreaking television series “Wildlife Nation,” broadcasted on ABC. “Wildlife Nation” explores the remarkable story of North American conservation, highlighting heroes working to save endangered species and wilderness, while forging a strong bond between the audience and the natural resources they depend upon. The mission is to empower a diverse community with stories of environmental stewardship, conservation and the plight of imperiled wildlife. “Wildlife Nation” is produced in partnership with Defenders of Wildlife, a leader and pioneer in wildlife conservation.  

Corwin’s television work has been awarded with multiple Emmys and additional industry awards. His very first TV series was the wildly successful “Going Wild with Jeff Corwin” on Disney Channel. His Animal Planet series the “Jeff Corwin Experience” was a global sensation. Corwin is also the creator and co-presenter of CNN's groundbreaking documentary “Planet in Peril,” hosted alongside Anderson Cooper and Sanjay Gupta. Corwin is executive producer and host of ABC's “Ocean Treks,” which consists of five seasons of powerful and compelling stories exploring journeys of culture, adventure and nature around the globe. Corwin is an executive producer and presenter for the giant screen film “Expedition Chesapeake” and the narrator for David Attenborough's documentary “Galapagos, Natures Wonderland.” During the Gulf oil spill, Corwin served as an environmental correspondent for both CBS and NBC News. In April 2020, Corwin created and executively produced the critically acclaimed TV series “Alaska Animal Rescue” for Nat Geo Wild, now on Disney Plus. 

Beyond television, Corwin’s acclaimed NBC documentary and book, “100 Heartbeats,” covered the plight of endangered species. Corwin is also the author of 10 books on wildlife and nature, including “Living on the Edge, Amazing Relationships in the Nature World.” 

During the program, still photography, will be limited to the first five minutes of Corwin’s lecture. Audio and video recording is not permitted.
