Technology.org reported on a collaboration between UB researchers, including Karthik Dantu, the University of Virginia and NASA that is using drones equipped with heat and light sensors to monitor crops. 

Series B highlighted five new startups launched through UB’s Cultivator program, including ‍RecycleVisionAI, which uses AI to improve plastic sorting accuracy. 

Karthik Dantu, CSE PhD student Vaishali Maheshkarand and CSE postdoctoral associate Charuvahan Adhivarahan earned second place for their company, RecycleVision AI.

UB researchers have developed a new device and method that can measure the amount of recyclable materials in plastic. 

Projects include creating new uses for discarded tires, and establishing a testbed for advanced sorting technologies.

Open to the public, the day will include demos of humanoid and dog robots, driverless cars, drones and more.
