How Do I Apply for Travel Funds?

The Center for Ingestive Behavior will award several travel grants for student travel to scientific conferences in 2020. Center members will receive an email announcement when the next round of applications are due.

Funds can be used for conference travel during the calendar year of the application. The applicant must be a current UB student or postdoc. In addition, abstract(s) the applicant is submitting to the conference must be related to some aspect of ingestive behavior research, and at least one co-author on the abstract must be a member of the Center for Ingestive Behavior Research.

Please submit applications to cibr@buffalo.edu as a Word or PDF attachment with 2020 Travel Grant Application in the email’s subject line. Applications should be no longer than one page and include:

  • Applicant name and mentor’s name
  • Level (PhD, etc.), discipline/degree program, and how long you’ve been in the program
  • Include statement of need: i.e. other funding available to the applicant
  • Applicant must describe their abstract/content area
  • Applicant must describe how the conference will benefit them in some detail (e.g., specific personal and professional benefits – early career workshops, networking opportunities, etc.)
  • The document must follow specific title format: Applicant last name_PI name_CIBR travel_year

Applications will be reviewed by a committee of CIBR faculty, with decisions in May 2020.
