Research in Dr. Chi Zhou's Laboratory is centered around additive manufacturing (3D printing). The goal is to develop novel additive manufacturing technologies which leverage modeling, analysis, optimization, simulation, material synthesis and characterization tools to revolutionize future product design and manufacturing. Researchers in Zhou's lab developed high-throughput, high-resolution, low-cost continuous image projection stereolithography and freeze nano ink-jetting based bio-printing processes to fabricate bio-compatible soft and hard tissues. By precisely assembling living cells within complex biomimetic architecture, these novel bioprinting techniques can significantly improve the biologically relevant properties and open up tremendous opportunities for applications in medicine and health areas.
