Duo Axis presents: WOVEN (Nov. 19, 2019)

Duo Axis: Zach Sheets and Wei-Han Wu

The culminating event of Duo Axis's Creative Arts Initiative residency, Woven, was a recital of new and recent works featuring music by David Felder, Victoria Cheah, Katherine Balch and Tonia Ko, and world premieres by Anthony Vine and Zach Sheets. An ebb and flow of breath united the six works in a gentle unfolding, woven together into an-evening length recital that was framed by lighting and the performers' motion through space.

This event is free and open to the public. The concert program runs continuously without an intermission, with a duration of approximately 80 minutes.

As Duo Axis, flutist Zach Sheets and pianist Wei-Han Wu present vibrant performances that feature traditional classical music and new, experimental works in equal measure. Their well-rounded experiences as chamber musicians, soloists, orchestral players, and arts administrators inform their multi-dimensional art-making and shape their exploration of new dialogues with audiences. They have performed recitals throughout the US, including commissioned projects and concert tours supported by New Music USA, EQ Concerts, the nth degree chamber series, Avaloch Farm Music Institute, and more.
