Julia Merante wins UB's Excellence in Research, Scholarship and Creativity Award

Congratulations to Julia Merante on winning UB's Excellence in Research, Scholarship and Creativity Award. The award was presented at the 2023 Celebration of Student Academic Excellence Student Showcase. Merante's research illuminates Erin's Law, which requires schools to educate students and teachers, grades pre-K through twelve, with evidence-based curriculum designed to recognize and combat child sexual abuse. Merante, as blog producer for The Baldy Center (2021 to 2023), investigated Erin's Law as the sole focus of the Fall 2022 blog and podcast series. As a law student, Merante’s many notable activities include serving as President of the Jessup International Moot Court, Professor Olin’s Research Fellow, a Student Attorney for the Family Violence & Women’s Right Clinic, and an Associate on both of the law school’s specialty journals. Merante's well-earned law degree will be conferred at the 2023 UB graduation ceremony; after which, she will join Harris Beach PLLC as an Energy Law Associate.
