Description

The exhibition investigates the ways in which artists Grace Hartigan and Joan Mitchell, and gallerist Martha Jackson resisted rigid categorizations of gender roles in Post-World War II New York. It features work by Hartigan and Mitchell from 1950-1980 from the collections of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University, the Smith College Museum of Art, Annette Cravens, the Estate of David K. Anderson, the University at Buffalo collections, and rare archival materials from the Martha Jackson Gallery Archives at UB Anderson Gallery.
