Jonathan Barcan: Things Fragment, Things Merge
Barcan’s drawings and prints are driven by his fascination in how people relate to one another. His research in biology and physics informs his visual investigations, which focus on the point where things meet then move away, come together and fall apart, are just fully sculpted and begin to erode away.
Born in 1980 in a track-housing suburban sprawl forty minutes north of Los Angeles, Barcan moved to San Francisco as a young adult and immediately immersed himself in the vibrant underground creative scene there, helping to throw arts/music events in both institutional and unconventional art locations. He stayed there for over 10 years, earning a BA from San Francisco State University with a degree in Printmaking and Art History in 2007. He has exhibited internationally, including shows in Oakland, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Montreal, Toronto, Beijing, and Florence, Italy.
Carolyn Kaser: SIGNAL/NOISE
SIGNAL/NOISE addresses the information overload that saturates daily life. Drawing from media sources, Kaser creates layered images that represent worlds of multitasking and compartmentalization.
Carolyn Kaser grew up on the Western Slope of the Colorado Rockies and studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, University of New Mexico, and Tamarind Institute before moving to Buffalo. Her drawings, prints, and installations explore the interpretation of experience through images, objects, and memory.
