A growing volume of UB research is finding its way into startup companies.

The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) has elected Wenyao Xu, Carl V. Granger Endowed Chair and professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, to its College of Fellows.

Technology reported that UB faculty, including Wenyao Xu, Jun Xia and Chi Zhou, have received two NSF grants, totaling $950,000, to prepare the next generation of the AI, cybersecurity and advanced manufacturing workforce.

Programs are supported by two National Science Foundation grants totaling $950,000.

Wenyao Xu, professor and director of research in the University at Buffalo Department of Computer Science and Engineering, has been elected a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Medium referenced research by Wenyao Xu on biological signals that can be collected remotely using standard cameras. 

India Defence Review referenced UB research, led by Wenyao Xu, that used an AI system to analyze 60,000 fingerprints, proving that they are not unique.
