Mutua named dean of UB Law

Makau W. Mutua, recognized as one of the world’s foremost authorities in the area of human rights law, has been named dean of the UB Law School. » Full Story

Raising math scores. A program designed by UB researchers to increase mathematics achievement in pre-kindergarten students has proven successful in large-scale studies in Buffalo and Boston.

Placing blame for global food crisis. A food security expert at UB places the blame for the worldwide food crisis on the shoulders of policy-makers and the media.

Engineering students excel. The UB student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers recently took second place in regional concrete canoe and steel bridge competitions.

Support SUNY Senate. The president of the SUNY-wide Faculty Senate came to Tuesday’s meeting of the UB Faculty Senate to talk about his group’s role in guiding and influencing state policies on public higher education.

Computing for a cause. Some UB computer science students are creating practical solutions to socially relevant problems.

Inventors, entrepreneurs honored. UB and its Office of Science, Technology Transfer and Economic Outreach recognized the research and commercialization achievements of faculty members at the annual Inventors and Entrepreneurs Reception held on Monday.

WBFO tower installation complete. WBFO-FM 88.7 has completed installation of a new tower and antenna that will improve the quality of its signal and extend its reach to new audiences.

Survey seeks your input. In an effort to improve internal communications at UB, the Office of University Communications has created an online survey to solicit feedback from faculty and staff.
