Creating a great place to work. UB’s ongoing efforts to improve the worklife of its employees has been recognized by Business First of Buffalo with a designation as a finalist in the newspaper’s annual “Great Places to Work” ranking.

Battling chronic bad breath. A study by UB dental researchers has confirmed that brushing twice a day with toothpaste containing a bactericide and using a toothbrush with a tongue cleaner can eliminate halitosis.

Creating teleonomic environments. UB architecture faculty member Omar Khan studies nonliving teleonomic environments that move and reconfigure space by sensing the presence of living beings in the environment.

The interpersonal nature of blogs. A UB study of bloggers has found that they are likely to be self-disclosing extroverts who use their personal blogs to strengthen and enhance their already large networks of strong social ties.

Early evidence of oral cancer. A simple “swish and spit” method can be used to detect potential early evidence of oral cancer, a preliminary study conducted by researchers at UB and Roswell Park Cancer Institute has shown.
