Grant supports Arts in Healthcare. The Center for the Arts has received a grant from the Oishei Foundation to establish a program that will bring the performing arts and artists into health-care settings.

Search panel named for SOM dean. The national search for a new dean for the School of Management has begun with the appointment of a search committee.

Smoking cessation during pregnancy. A research team at UB's Research Institute on Addictions is conducting a new study focused on developing a smoking cessation program specifically for pregnant women.

Spiritual bridge-building needed. A new study by a UB sociologist suggests that pediatric oncologists might help their patients and their families more by learning ways to engage them on a spiritual basis.

Database opens up NYS. A database of digital topographical maps and gazetteer information developed by a UB librarian makes it possible to easily locate 38,000 places, features and other geographic sites in New York State from a laptop.

Computational tools critical in ER. A study by UB researchers has found that proper design of computational tools is critical if they are to be used with success in patient-care settings, particularly in hospital emergency rooms.

Tourism in Southtowns. The Regional Institute has released the final report on tourism development in the largely rural area of southern Erie County.
