UB to begin master planning process

President John B. Simpson today announced that UB is beginning a master planning process focusing on future campus and facilities needs in conjunction with plans to grow the university by 750 faculty members and 10,000 students over the next 15 years. » Full Story

Bringing heart to the practice of law. In the last event of his historic three-day visit to UB, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama discussed ethical dilemmas with participants at a conference at the UB Law School.

UB 2020 helping to make SUNY's case. Chancellor John R. Ryan told members of the UB Council on Monday that the UB 2020 strategic planning process is helping SUNY make a compelling case that public higher education is key to the future of New York State.

Biomineralization is focus of work. For more than 40 years, George Nancollas' work in the Department of Chemistry has shed light on the treatment and prevention of such chronic conditions as renal-stone formation, atherosclerosis, osteoporosis and tooth decay.

Architecture lectures set. Toshiko Mori, architect of the proposed Darwin Martin House Visitors Center, will present an illustrated lecture as part of the 2006 lecture series presented by the School of Architecture and Planning.

Arts management film to premiere. The Arts Management Program and the Humanities Institute are cosponsoring the U.S. premiere of a documentary film by a leader in the "fields of flow movement."

October concerts. The Department of Music will present a full schedule of concerts during October, including a performance by the Colorado String Quartet to open the 51st season of the Slee/Beethoven String Quartet Cycle.

UB opens SEFA campaign. Organizers of the 2006 SEFA campaign are hoping the message His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama delivered to UB during his visit last week will spur the university community to top this year's campaign goal of $910,000.

Rising cost of texts. The Faculty Senate Executive Committee yesterday discussed how faculty members can help students keep a lid on the rising costs of textbooks.
