SUNY promotes UB faculty

Four UB faculty members have been appointed SUNY Distinguished Professors by the SUNY Board of Trustees. » Full Story

McCombe named CAS dean

Bruce D. McCombe, SUNY Distinguished Professor in the Department of Physics and longtime UB administrator, has been named dean of the College of Arts and Sciences after a national search. » Full Story

New findings on angioplasty. A study led by UB researcher William Boden has found that medication and lifestyle changes work as well as angioplasty to reduce deaths in stable heart-disease patients.

UB to consolidate telephone services. Consolidation of UB's more than 80 separate telephone systems into a single state-of-the-art service marks a major step forward for the UB 2020 IT Strategic Transformation process.

Alumni to be recognized. The UB Alumni Association will honor 12 individuals with achievement awards at a black-tie gala to be held April 20.

Leading UB's alumni outreach. Graham Stewart, UB's new associate vice president for alumni relations, brings a unique background to his work at the university that includes a lifelong passion for musical performance and a strong record in public relations and marketing, as well as alumni relations.

Pro bono: more than just good will. A new study by UB sociologist Robert Granfield examines lawyers' motivation in working for the public good.

Clarkson lecture set. Distinguished author, practitioner and critic Jane Ockman will deliver the 2007 Clarkson Lecture in Architecture on Wednesday.

Ives Quartet to headline concert lineup. The critically acclaimed Ives Quartet will be in residence at UB April 20-22, performing two concerts, as well as conducting a master class.

Atelier to present new ideas. New and exciting ideas about our built environment will be on view this week when the School of Architecture and Planning presents its annual Atelier exhibition of student work.

FSEC tutored on Disability Services. Members of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee yesterday learned about the services provided to UB students with disabilities.
