Gift creates sports training center

A new sports performance training facility offering twice the space for physical training by UB student-athletes will open this fall thanks to a $500,000 gift from UB alumnus Robert G. Morris and his wife, Carol L. Morris. » Full Story

"Expatriates" boost life sciences. As part of the grand opening of UB's New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences, a group of Buffalo "expatriates" are spending time in the city this week to help boost the Center of Excellence and the life sciences industry it is generating.

Maternal cocaine use. A study by researchers at UB's Research Institute on Addictions found cocaine-using mothers to be more insensitive during feeding interactions with their infants than non-cocaine-using mothers.

Insights on regional governance. As part of a UBThisSummer lecture, Kathryn Foster, director of the Institute for Local Governance and Regional Growth offered insights on the controversial issue of regional governance.

Zen experience for UB community. The UB Zen Buddhist Association welcomes members of the UB community eager for the chance to meet weekly to practice the ancient art of meditation.

ETC awards grants. The Educational Technology Center has announced the winners of Educational Technology Grants under the latest round of funding for the program.

Alcohol awareness. To better understand the health and wellness repercussions of alcohol, UB freshmen now will participate in AlcoholEdu, a three-hour, online, science-based course that will help students understand the effects of alcohol on mind and body.
