Stenger named engineering dean

Harvey G. Stenger Jr., professor of chemical engineering and former dean of the engineering school at Lehigh University, has been named dean of the UB School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. » Full Story

Tension headaches may be TMJD. People whose recurrent headaches have been diagnosed as tension-related actually may be suffering from temporomandibular muscle and joint disorder, or TMJD, a study headed by a UB dental researcher has shown.

Creeley birthday celebration planned. What would have been the 80th birthday of the late UB poet and faculty member Robert Creeley will be celebrated this weekend with a variety of events, including poetry readings, film screenings and musical presentations.

Never too late for a bachelor's degree. Among the thousands of graduates crossing the stage Sunday at UB's general commencement ceremony, one stood out in the crowd—lawyer Ralph Halpern, who received his bachelor's degree at age 77.

Tracking cognitive deficits in lupus. UB neuroscientists have received a $1.2 million federal grant to link the cognitive deficits in working memory frequently observed in persons with lupus to specific electrical activity and anatomical changes in the brain.

High school students to design toys. The applications don't say "Santa's Helpers Wanted," but high school students who participate in a workshop at UB this summer will be designing toys as they learn state-of-the-art engineering design techniques.
