McCombe, Ryan named vice provosts

Bruce D. McCombe and Michael E. Ryan today were appointed to key leadership positions in his office by Satish K. Tripathi, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. » Full Story

Seitz resigns. Kevin Seitz, vice president for university services, has resigned to become vice chancellor for finance and administration at East Carolina University.

Consultant hired. Former NCAA president Gene Corrigan has been hired as a consultant to identify steps to be taken to make UB's sports teams competitive.

Drinking habits affect blood pressure. A new UB study alerts drinkers that a habit of drinking outside of meals may be setting them up for high blood pressure.

Gifts for the odd or academic. Librarians in the Arts and Sciences Libraries have constructed a holiday gift Web site that may satisfy the peculiar cravings of those cell biologists and mathematicians on your list.

Give self as part of gift. A UB faculty member advises parents to include their time as part of giving educational toys to their children.
