Greiner to step down as UB president

William R. Greiner, UB's 13th president, announced on Monday that he will retire as president of the institution, effective June 30. » Full Story

President William R. Greiner appoints Margaret Paroski as interim vice president for health affairs and dean of the medical school to succeed Michael Bernardino, who will return to Atlanta. » Full Story

Thomas named dean of School of Management. John M. Thomas, whose efforts have made the School of Management a leader in international management education, has been named dean of the school.

Wendt Foundation awards grants. The Margaret L. Wendt Foundation has awarded grants totaling $4.5 million to the three partners in the Buffalo Life Sciences Complex.

Ellicott Food Court is open for business. A $5 million renovation project has transformed the dark dingy Student Club area into a bright, airy, "village square."

Westman to perform at UB. Baritone James Westman will sing in Slee as part of the prestigious Marilyn Horne Foundation residency program.

Ringland lobbies against copyright laws. UB math professor John Ringland contends that concerns over digital piracy are the pretext for a new age of laws that threaten the public's right to information, free speech and the ability to engage in research and scholarship.

SA pledges $25,000 to new fund. The Random Acts of Kindness Fund is designed to help undergraduates who are experiencing financial difficulties stay in school.

Mather to head Baldy Center. Distinguished Dartmouth scholar Lynn Mather has assumed the directorship of UB's internationally recognized Baldy Center.

Goode Trust supports research on sudden cardiac death. A gift by the Mae Stone Goode Trust will further the groundbreaking research of UB cardiologist John M. Canty, Jr.
