How soon do you discover useful journal articles?

Current Contents Connect is a multidisciplinary, current-awareness service available to the university community through BISON, the University Libraries' Web site http://ublib.buffalo.edu. The tables of contents of more than 8,000 leading scholarly journals are entered into this Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) database shortly after their publication. More than 3,500 scholarly Web sites also are indexed and annotated.

Tell Current Contents Connect what your interests are using its Alert Service, and a weekly message will be sent to your email account listing pertinent new journal-article citations.

It's quick and easy to search the database yourself, and the range of disciplines covered is remarkable. You may search across the entire Current Contents Connect database or within multidisciplinary clusters, such as "Clinical Medicine," "Physical, Chemical & Earth Sciences" and "Social & Behavioral Sciences." You also may browse the tables of contents of journals by title, such as the Classical Quarterly, as well as topical areas, such as "history." Whether you are searching or browsing, indicate the time frame that you want covered, such as "the current week," "latest four weeks" or "latest six months."

Whatever the topic you're interested in, you also are given access to the "E-search Collection" leading to preprints, research funding announcements and authoritative Web sites. With its breadth, timeliness and searching ease, exploring Current Contents Connects' journal universe can lead to discoveries of useful information in places you would seldom, if ever, search

For assistance is using the database or in setting up an Alert profile, contact Stewart Brower sbrower@acsu.buffalo.edu. If you'd like to explore the resource yourself, go to http://ublib.buffalo.edu/libraries/units/hsl/e-resources/currentcontentsconnect.htm. Once you've logged in, you can use Current Contents Connect's friendly tutorial.
