A. Scott Weber, vice provost and dean for undergraduate education, has been elected to board of directors of the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County.


University Police received a New York Law Enforcement Challenge Award at part of the Empire State Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Conference held recently in Albany.

UB was recognized for various traffic safety programs and trainings provided by UB Police.

Lt. Greg Gamble, who nominated UB for the award along with Lt. Scott Marciszewski, traveled to Albany to accept the award.


Randy Borst, director of accessibility resources, has received the 2012 Elayne G. Wels Award from Western New York Independent Living (WNYIL).

A tireless advocate for the rights of people with disabilities, Borst served on WNYNIL’s board of directors from 2005-11 and as vice president from 2008-11.

Doug Usiak, executive director of WNYIL, called Borst “a perfect example of a person with a disability who puts himself where his soul is by being not only a peer for people with disabilities, but a leader as well.”
