The College of Arts and Sciences will continue its popular “Rock the CASbah” summer concert series this year with four free outdoor concerts planned for July.

The series, which began in the summer of 2010, is free and open to the public. Concerts will take place from 12:05-1:05 p.m. on Tuesdays outside the Student Union on the North Campus. Rain venue is the Center for the Arts.

The aim of the series is to energize campus during the summer months while supporting local music and encouraging the community to visit UB.

The schedule:

  • July 10: LeeRon Zydeco & The Hot Tamales (zydeco-cajun music)
  • July 17: Vinnie DeRosa Band (rock/world/pop)
  • July 24: The Pyramid Band (big band favorites)
  • July 31: Critt’s Juke Joint (jazz)

“Rock the CASbah” is just one of many public activities UB is hosting this summer. Other offerings include lectures by prominent UB researchers, youth sports camps, workshops, seminars and special events.

The popular UBThisSummer Lecture Series will open on June 6 with a talk by Satrajit Sinha, associate professor in the Department of Biochemistry, on the new technology and sophisticated genetic approaches that are providing important insights into skin biology and disease.
