Alan Cober, one of America’s foremost illustrators who also served as a visiting professor and Distinguished Visiting Artist at UB from 1986-96, is being posthumously inducted into the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame in New York City. Cober (1935-1998) was one of the first illustrators to use expressive and symbolic drawing in his illustrations, abandoning realistic painting that was popular in editorial work at the time. His work appeared in numerous publications, including TIME, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, Life, Look, The Atlantic Monthly and The New York Times.

Robert Shibley, dean of the School of Architecture and Planning, is one of seven community leaders recently honored for their service work by VOICE-Buffalo, a faith-based community organization,

Arjang A. Assad, dean of the School of Management, received the outstanding executive award at the Excalibur Awards presented by the Buffalo Niagara chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. The School of Management’s MoneySKILL financial literacy program for high school students received a silver award and several of its publications also were honored.
