  • For two summers, I worked at the Red Cross on Delaware Avenue on a grant-funded program in the HIV/AIDS education unit called the Women’s Initiative Program. I had the opportunity to do, see and learn things that were incredibly eye opening and life altering, My experience there led to a major shift in my academic interests. Hands down one of the best experiences I’ve had to date!

  • Summers during college I worked for a home remodeling contractor. I did just about everything, from installing new windows to completely gutting and remodeling a restaurant kitchen, to helping build a house from the ground up. Unlike most summer jobs, the skills I learned and experiences I had during those months have come back to help me again and again as a home owner and DIY-er.

  • I used to work at the Pizza Hut near the Boulevard Mall. There were two huts miles closer to my house, but some friends worked at this location. As the “opener,” I had an hour to myself every morning. I would start the dough mixing and steal a quick nap on the cool, padded vinyl of a dining room booth. When the dough timer dinged, it was time to get up!
