Law School Dean Makau W. Mutua has been chosen by Attorney General-elect Eric T. Schneiderman for his transition committee to help recruit top legal talent to join the attorney general’s staff and to provide policy recommendations to improve the lives of New Yorkers. Mutua will serve on Schneiderman’s Infrastructure/Technology/Regional Offices Committee.

Kelly Hayes McAlonie, associate director of the Capital Planning Group, has received the Edward B. Green Distinguished Service Award from the American Institute of Architect’s Western New York chapter. Hayes McAlonie co-chaired the chapter’s Architecture and Education program for three years and was instrumental in bringing the program to the Buffalo Public Schools as the Architecture and Design Academy at the International Preparatory School at Grover Cleveland High School. She also is vice president for public advocacy for AIA New York State. Also recognized with Design Awards recently at the chapter’s annual gala were UB’s Clinical Translational Research Center—Merit Award Winner for Un-built Building—and the UB Child Care Center—Citation Award for Addition/Renovation.
