  • PSS to meet

    The next general membership meeting of the Professional Staff Senate will take place from 3-5 p.m. Nov. 18 in the Center for Tomorrow, North Campus.

    Dennis Black, vice president for university life and services, and Barbara Ricotta, associate vice president for student affairs, will be the featured speakers.

    Anyone with questions for Black may submit them in advance on the PSS website.

    The meeting is open to all members of the professional staff.

  • Financial workshops scheduled

    The Professional Staff Senate will present “Financially Safe,” two lunchtime workshops aimed at helping participants protect themselves from identity theft, as well as understand their credit report.

    “Has Anyone Seen My Identity” will be held on Nov. 16; “Understanding Your Credit Report” will take place on Dec. 9. Both workshops will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. in 120 Clemens Hall, North Campus.

    Scott Laughlin, director of quality improvement for Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Buffalo, will lead both workshops.

    The cost of the workshop is $10, which includes a deli lunch.

  • Sessions support ‘Smokeout’

    To support the Great American Smokeout on Nov. 18, Wellness and Work/Life Balance is holding two sessions to help UB employees recognize why they smoke and how to quit.

    The free sessions will be held from noon to 1 p.m. and from 3-4 p.m. in 324 Crofts Hall, North Campus.

    Participants can hear a presentation on the benefits of quitting smoking, receive free nicotine replacement therapy and take a free lung-capacity test.

    Sessions are open to all UB faculty and staff, and their friends and family members.
