  • That it’s in the middle of nowhere. On the contrary, Buffalo’s in the middle of everywhere. I love that wherever I am in the metro area, I can be dining out downtown, on a drive in the country, hiking in a state park—even crossing the border into another country—in a matter of minutes.

  • Non-Buffalonians have a skewed sense of our snowfall rates and proximity to New York City, and until they experience our Queen City firsthand they are totally unaware of its beauty and riches.

  • That there is nothing to do here, but it’s simply not true! We have Shakespeare in the Park, Allentown Art Festival, Garden Walk, Chicken Wing Festival, Taste of Buffalo, Hellenic Festival and the Polish Festival, to name just a few. There’s always something going on.

Melissa A. Swiatek-Odien says:

It's cold all the time and it snows terribly everyday in the winter. Lake Effect Snow is something special, but becomes a non- issue when the lake freezes. And from summer to early fall the weather is quite pleasant, I wouldn't want it any hotter than it gets in July and August.
