  • Outdoor Pursuits sponsoring 2 Alaskan trips

    Due to popular demand, UB’s Outdoor Pursuits program is offering two trips to Alaska this year.

    The trips, set for on May 18-25 and Aug. 3-10, will be led by Russ Crispell, director of outdoor pursuits. Crispell is a New York State licensed guide, a certified wilderness responder and first aid instructor, and an instructor for the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association.

    Planned activities include backpacking, canoeing, fishing, sea-kayaking, camping on the Iditarod Trail and glacier hikes.

    The trips will be ninth and 10th such trips Crispell has led for Outdoor Pursuits.

    Cost of the trips is $1,000 per person, not including flight to Anchorage.

    Space is limited. The deadline for registration and deposit is April 1 for the May trip and June 15 for the August trip.

  • Workshop to address senior services

    Learn more about keeping your aging loved ones healthy and happy in their own home or in another community residence at a session titled “Dispelling the Mythology about Aging & Senior Care” being presented by UB’s Employee Assistance Program, the Erie County Department of Senior Services and Canterbury Woods.

    The session, which is free and open to UB faculty and staff, and their family members, will take place from 5-7 p.m. March 11 in the Center for Tomorrow, North Campus. Refreshments will be served.
