  • On a day like today, I’d like to say cross-country skiing. There’s nothing like the oxygen intoxication that comes with that. But the truth is, it’s the Sunday morning pick-up soccer game. Spring, summer and fall, we play outside. In winter, we play indoors at a local high school. “Kids” from 17 to 70—and we’ve been playing together for literally decades. We may even stop arguing someday.

  • I exercise fairly vigorously every day and I think that makes me resistant to the blahs. Also, perhaps because I’m in pretty good shape, I love to shovel snow, so that’s an opportunity to enjoy winter. But I should add that even though winter doesn’t get me down, there’s plenty about it I don’t like.

  • My very first snowstorm experience in Buffalo was quite a surprise since I grew up in Hong Kong’s monsoon climate. However, after discovering the joy of snowboarding, I can hardly wait for the next snow day. My favorite winter escape is to spend the day at one of our “backyard” ski resorts in Ellicottville and then warm up by having friends over for a fondue party or a shabu-shabu dinner.

  • UB Hoops, of course! I never miss a UB men’s or women’s basketball game in Alumni Arena. Being a total fan gets my blood boiling and my smile radiating. Go Bulls!
