UB employees can join alumni association

UB employees who are not UB alumni can join the UB Alumni Association as an employee “friend” and take advantage of the many benefits, both on and off campus, afforded to Alumni Association members.

These include discounts on gift items at the University Bookstore and Campus Tees, discounts at numerous off-campus retailers, including online retailers like overstock.com and target.com, and special programming and events.

The yearly fee for non-alumni faculty and staff is $30 per year.

Volunteers sought for Brush Up Buffalo

UB will launch its inaugural UB Community Service Day on June 20 by participating in Brush Up Buffalo 2009. All faculty, staff, students and alumni are encouraged to volunteer.

Founded in 1996, Brush Up Buffalo is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that organizes an annual event to repaint about 10 to 15 low-income, single-family, owner-occupied homes and revitalize city neighborhoods. This year’s event will take place in the University District, home to the UB South Campus. UB is a key sponsor of Brush Up Buffalo 2009.

Those interested in participating should click here to register (click on the "volunteer" button; if you want to work with other UB volunteeers or friends, indicate that on the form). Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. The event lasts about 4 hours, with breakfast and lunch included; supplies are provided and no painting experience required.

Volunteers will meet at 7:30 a.m. at the South Campus. Park in the Diefendorf Lot. Buses will transport participants to and from houses.
