Kimball keeps lead in health challenge

Published: May 14, 2009

As the “eat well. live well. challenge” between Crofts Hall, Kimball Tower and the Educational Opportunity Center heads into its final week, Kimball continues to hold the lead in the health promotion organized by Wegmans and sponsored by University Human Resources,

Through May 9, Kimball participants are leading in both the average number of cups of fruits and vegetables they have eaten each day—5.1 cups—and the average number of steps taken each day—10,682 steps.

Crofts and EOC again are splitting second place. Crofts is leading in steps, averaging 10,264 steps, versus 10,076 for EOC. EOC is leading in cups of fruits and vegetables eaten, averaging 4.576 cups, compared to 4.506 cups for Crofts.

The goal of the “eat well. live well. challenge” is to encourage individuals to move more and increase the amount of fruits and vegetables they consume. Participants use pedometers to count and record the number of steps they take each day and tally the number of cups of fruits and vegetables they eat each day. Data is recorded online.

The contest, which began on March 22, runs through May 16.
