HR offers help to keep resolutions

Faculty and staff who have made a New Year’s resolution to maintain a healthier lifestyle need look no further for support than the Wellness & Work/Life unit in University Human Resources, which has organized a variety of programs to help members of the university community keep their resolutions and meet their goals.

The programs range from Weight Watchers classes and the third Move It to Lose It weight-loss contest (applications are due no later than Jan. 16) to yoga, qi gong and ballroom dancing classes.

Many programs start the week of Jan. 19. Click here for more information and to register for programs.

The meeting is open to all members of the professional staff.

For more information, call the PSS office at 645-2003.

Personal finance course offered online

Faculty and staff looking during these tough economic times to brush up on a wide range of personal finance issues can take part in MoneySKILL, a free, online personal financial management course offered by University Human Resources in association with the School of Management.

The course was developed by Lewis Mandell, professor emeritus of finance and managerial economics, in collaboration with American Financial Services Association Education Foundation. Although MoneySKILL was developed for high school seniors, the program can be valuable to adults seeking to review their knowledge regarding a wide range of personal finance fundamentals, including credit cards, insurance, the costs and benefits of borrowing, and more.

UB employees also can obtain passwords for family members interested in taking the course.

Brief orientation sessions will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Jan. 22 and Jan. 30 in 320 Crofts Hall, North Campus.
