The $26 million Downtown Campus home for UB’s center for remedial, vocational and academic programming opened in spring 2013.
UB broke ground in September 2010 on the 68,000-square-foot, LEED Gold building to house the UB Educational Opportunity Center, the second tenant in UB’s Downtown Gateway Complex. The project allowed the EOC to move out of antiquated quarters at 465 Washington St. and expand the delivery of its job-training and college-preparatory programs. The building was constructed primarily of environmentally friendly, durable fiber cement panels and glass; large window frames and open stairways bring natural light in and offer faculty, staff and students dynamic views of the city. Included in the building are a conference center and the Bethel Head Start program, as well as classrooms, offices, a computer lab, library, “information commons” and student and faculty lounges.
