Along with warmer weather and fanciful thoughts, this spring promises the arrival of a major exhibition to Buffalo's Albright-Knox Art Gallery, "Monet at Giverny: Masterpieces from the Musée Marmottan," from May 29 through Aug. 29. The gallery's Web site on this exhibition http://www.albrightknox.org/Mindex.html provides an overview, along with gallery directions, hours, membership information, ticket discounts for members and other useful information.

The site offers links to help prepare visitors for the exhibit. Under "Education for Monet," the "Public Programs" link http://www. albrightknox.org/page8.html leads to a descriptive listing of three gallery lectures that will be held in early May-"In the Beginning: Monet from 1840 to 1883," "Norway to London, Belle-Isle to Rouen: Monet from 1883 to 1926" and "The Greatest Work of All: Monet at Giverny, 1883 to 1926."

In "Before You Visit," http://www. albrightknox.org/page7.html, there are some useful suggestions for obtaining guides for visitors, parents and teachers. The end of the page offers a link to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts virtual tour of this exhibition http://www.mmfa.qc.ca/visite-vr/anglais/index.html.

If you would like to conduct some Monet-related research on your own, the University Libraries BISON Web site has much to offer. For references, including some full-text articles about Monet, visit the "Art/Art History Databases" section of the "Databases by Subject" on the BISON page http://ublib.buffalo.edu/libraries/e-resources/art.html.

Try keyword searching for "Monet and Giverny" in the Wilson Art Abstracts or try "Monet" and "Biography" in the "Advanced Search Section" of the "Bibliography of the History of Art Database."

There are also helpful and thorough art-research pages offered by the Undergraduate Library http://ublib.buffalo.edu/libraries/units/ugl/center/art.html or Lockwood Library http://ublib.buffalo.edu/libraries/units/lml/Collections/artinter.html, which provide guidance and access to conducting art-related research in both print and electronic media.

So, gather your Web sites, citations and spring-like thoughts to help you prepare for the colorful possibility of viewing "Monet at Giverny."
