UB SPPS showcases research and scholarship at 2023 ACCP Annual Meeting

Faculty, residents, fellows and students from the University at Buffalo (UB) School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPPS) attended the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Annual Meeting in Dallas, TX, from November 11-14 to showcase our school’s research and scholarship with the national clinical pharmacy community.
The ACCP Annual Meeting features a variety of educational sessions, networking opportunities with clinical pharmacy leaders across the nation, and access to the latest information affecting clinical practice and research, as well as policy issues facing the profession.
At this year’s annual meeting, our SPPS faculty, residents, fellows and students presented nearly 25 research posters, 2 presentations and received 2 awards.
Hang Lin, PharmD’24, was a finalist for ACCP’s Best Student Poster award for his research poster titled, “Trends in hyperpolypharmacy and prescription expenditures among U.S. older adults, 2002-2017.”
Olivia Denny, PharmD, PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Resident, UB SPPS/Buffalo Medical Group, received a Trainee Travel Grant from the ACCP Endocrine & Metabolism Practice and Research Network to help support her cost of travel and attendance at the conference, where she presented a research poster and presentation titled, “Efficacy and safety of sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitor continuation in patients with type 2 diabetes and late-stage chronic kidney disease."
Awards were given to Ashley Woodruff, PharmD, director of Interprofessional Education and clinical associate professor, and Calvin Meaney, PharmD, clinical associate professor and interim division head, Division of Outcomes and Practice Advancement, both of the Department of Pharmacy Practice. Woodruff was awarded the 2023 Adult Medicine Practice and Research Network Mentoring Award. Meaney was named a Fellow of ACCP and was also recognized as a 2023 Outstanding Reviewer for ACCP’s Pharmacotherapy Journal.
