Overview

Dr. Carr's research interests focus on how nonverbal communication influences our everyday interactions. From deception detection to teaching efficacy in the classroom, Carr is passionate about understanding the role that nonverbal cues play in how we interact with others in a myriad of contexts. 

Carr presents regularly on his interests and often consults with organizations interested in furthering their understanding of nonverbal communication. 

Carr's deepest passion lies in his love of teaching in the collegiate setting. As the director of the Communication 101 program within the department, he is constantly exploring new ways to enhance student engagement and increase interest in the subject of communication science. 

Carr is also the host of "Conversations about Communication," the Department of Communication's first-ever podcast, and of “Winging It!” a video series from UB’s College of Arts & Sciences.
